Accounting Number Format in Google Sheets
Windows
Alt→H→A→N
Mac
Option→H→A→N
Accounting format — left-aligned currency symbols, decimal alignment, negatives in parentheses — is the standard for financial statements. Excel applies it with Alt H A N. Google Sheets hides it inside Format > Number > Custom.
XLKeys puts it back on the keyboard: select your numbers, press Alt H A N, and the range formats accounting-style. Pair it with Alt H 0 / Alt H 9 to adjust decimals.

| Where | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Excel | Alt→H→A→N (Accounting format) |

Sheets has Ctrl + Shift + 4 for plain currency, but no shortcut for the accounting format with aligned symbols and parenthesized negatives.

- Press Alt, release it, then type H, A, N.
- The range gets accounting format: aligned symbols, parenthesized negatives.
- Adjust decimals with Alt → H → 0 (more) or Alt → H → 9 (fewer).
